[For a very, very long time, Anya had has an unhealthy fascination with humans. Most fairies had a passing curiosity, such as stalking or tricking human travelers who wander into their area of influence, Anya actively searched them out, going so far as to occasionally stalk through human towns and cities to spy on and steal from them. But never had Anya revealed themselves to a human until encountering Kyoko.
Their curiosity was too great. They had not encountered a human with such magic in the modern age. They had thought she was something else altogether at first, and only after watching from a distance for some time did they conclude she was not a fairy or demon or spirit or anything else. The girl had obviously suffered some arduous fight and, only when she stumbled to the ground, did Anya reveal themselves. The girl's protestations confused the fairy and were ignored as Anya whisked her away to their cabin to tend to her wounds. The girl fought against the comfort like a scared animal.
Despite the awkward first meeting, the two developed a mutual interest. Maybe because they were both strange for their respective races, having no one to share their secrets with. Maybe because they both had an insatiable affinity for sweets. The visits became more and more important to Anya, to the point they felt longing when Kyoko was away, but at a certain point, those visits became more and more melancholy as Kyoko suffered through one distressing event after another. The closeness Anya had grown to long for regressed as Kyoko became distant and cynical.
The visits grew further apart, much to Anya's heartache, but they still happened. Such as today.
Kyoko has brought some goods--all stolen, but Anya barely understood human economics so has shown no concerns about that--so that Anya could prepare them into something more appetizing than candy bars and other junk food. They wonder if that is the only reason Kyoko visits now, but they have not asked. Anya floats from the kitchen to the living room to let Kyoko know the apple pie is done, only to find the magical girl passed out on the couch, surrounded by the mismatched pillows Anya has stolen over the years.
...Instead of waking up Kyoko, Anya sits down on the floor, arms hugging his legs, and watching the girl sleep.]
